Hello (PLOSneuro) world! I’m Alexis Fedorchak, a seventh-year PhD student studying neuroscience at UC Berkeley in a bioengineering program. For my PhD I use optopharmacology (like optogenetics, but not genetic) to study dendritic information processing. I do a lot of patch-clamping and shooting lasers at slices of rat hippocampus.

I’m also the Editor in Chief of the Berkeley Science Review, which is a magazine run by graduate students to communicate science happening at Berkeley to the general public.
